Hello, we are happy to make this tool available for people to more easily view the budget. There are some important things to know before working with it. Many people are most accustomed to looking at the budget within the Town Meeting Warrant. Although this tool largely presents that data, it is directly pulled from our accounting software so some of the items are categorized differently. Most important to note are:

  • Expenses presented here are actuals as of June 30th of each fiscal year.
  • The General Expense category includes Cherry Sheet charges and Transfers out of the General Fund.
  • Capital purchases are included with the responsible department under Capital Outlay.
  • Prior year encumbrances paid in the current year are included with the associated department's operating expenses.
  • Since the Town's finances are separated from the Schools' we do not break down their expenses, only what we distribute to them in bulk. Similarly we do not handle their income sources so although other Visual Budgets may reference a large state aid income factor, we do not.

The aggregated numbers are accurate but displayed differently since some of the "below the line" items on the budget are included in this tool. You can export the entire data set to excel Here. Please contact the Town Accountant if you have any additional questions about the data.
